VIETNAMESE PRIME MINISTER PHAM MINH CHINH ATTENDED CEREMONY TO MARK COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS FOR EVERBRIGHT ENVIRONMENT HUE WASTE-TO-ENERGY PROJECT

9 April 2024, Hong Kong-China Everbright Environment Group Limited (“Everbright Environment” or the “Company”) (257.HK) held a ceremony to mark the completion of construction works for Everbright Environment’s Hue Waste-to-energy Project (“Hue Project”) in Thua Thien Hue Province, Vietnam, on 6 April 2024. Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony .

While attending the ceremony, Pham Minh Chinh visited Hue Project, listening to the project introduction and learning the relevant project information such as the treatment capacity, the techniques and processes, and the staff. He said that Hue Project not only represents the outcome of the China-Vietnam collaboration in green economy, but also echoes the spirits relating to building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, as raised by top leaders of both countries, which aims to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership and carries strategic significance between the two countries.

As a strategic partner of the International Coalition for Green Development on the Belt and Road, Everbright Environment continues exporting environmental technologies, solutions and products, to countries and regions along the Belt and Road routine. Among which, Can Tho Waste-to-energy Project is not only the Company’s first modernised waste-to-energy project with stringent standards in Vietnam, but also was reported as a benchmark project for China’s green “Belt and Road” development by the relevant state ministries and China Central Television (CCTV) in China.

As the second integrated environmental management facility that was invested by Everbright Environment in Vietnam, Hue Project is located in Thua Thien Hue Province, covering an area of approximately 11 hectares. With a total investment of approximately USD74.55 million, the project is able to process approximately 220,000 tonnes of household waste and generate approximately 80 million kWh of on-grid green electricity per annum. It won the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council, which is one of the most authoritative and influential awards for workplace health and safety worldwide. Upon completion of the construction works, Hue Project received great attention and extensive coverage by VTV1 and other mainstream state media in Vietnam.

According to a person in charge from Everbright Environment, Hue Project marks the first modernised waste-to-energy project that is jointly developed by the local government authorities and enterprises in central Vietnam. It is also considered a milestone for the Company in terms of serving and integrating into the process of promoting China’s “Belt and Road” Initiative. Next, Everbright Environment will continue deepening its collaboration with government authorities of all levels in Vietnam in the environmental management sector, and develop more garden-like environmental protection facilities, contributing the Everbright strength to Vietnam’s green and low-carbon economic development and the country’s energy transformation.

More than 400 guests, including the Vietnamese government officials and representatives of Everbright Environment, joined the ceremony.
