ST. LOUIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–For the second consecutive year, Bunge Limited (NYSE:BG) teams around the world are coming together to support community organizations and non-profits focused on fighting hunger through our Global Volunteering Program. The program was launched last year to address growing food insecurity and humanitarian needs around the world. In recognition of World Food Day – an international day focused on ensuring our food systems are inclusive and sustainable – Bunge is hosting volunteer events throughout October.

Our Global Volunteering Program, centered on empowering and supporting communities, has more than doubled in size in 2023. Together, more than 65 sites around the world where the company has a presence have been and will be coordinating food drives, volunteering at food banks and supporting local organizations intending to address hunger and food access. This includes local support in St. Louis, Missouri – Bunge’s corporate headquarters – and multiple sites in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the United States.

“Our goal is to leave a lasting impact on the communities where we operate,” said Robert Coviello, Chief Sustainability Officer and Government Affairs at Bunge. “Our Global Volunteering Program has had immense growth this year and that speaks volumes to the dedication our employees have to do what’s right. We are very proud of our teams and their commitment to support the communities where they live and work.”

World Food Day is an international day designated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to promote global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger. According to the FAO, it is estimated that between 691 and 783 million people in the world faced hunger in 2022.
